Classic French Fries

Ingredients

  • 1 Lb Russet potatoes
  • 1 Tbs Vegetable or Olive Oil
  • Hot (not boiling) water
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. 1. Peel potatoes and cut lengthwise into 1/4 inch thick sticks. Place in a large bowl and add enough water to cover. Let stand for 10 minutes. Drain, pat dry and return to dry bowl . Add oil and salt.
  2. 2. Preheat air fryer to 360°.
  3. 3. Place half the potatoes in a single layer in air fryer basket. Air fry for five minutes. Open basket and, with tongs, gently toss the potatoes. Increased temperature to 390° and air fry for 12 to 16 minutes, opening basket twice more to toss, until golden brown. Serve immediately. Repeat with the remaining potatoes.
  4. It only took me six minutes for the second part of this recipe.
  5. Variations:
  6. Garlic, Parmesan Fries: add 2 teaspoons of minced garlic when tossing the potatoes in step three. Toss the finished fries with 1 tablespoon of freshly grated Parmesan cheese and 1 tablespoon of minced fresh parsley before serving.
  7. Cajun Fries: Replace the salt with 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  8. Rosemary Fries: Add 1 tsp minced fresh Rosemary when tossing the potatoes in step 3.
